(APRIL 17, 2024 | Las Vegas) The Biden-Harris campaign marked Black Maternal Health Week in Las Vegas with an event featuring local elected officials, health care workers, and health equity advocates. Speakers highlighted the efforts of President of the United States Joseph R. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to combat the Black maternal mortality rate and to further emphasize how another Donald Trump presidency would make the delivery room even more dangerous for Black women.

In Nevada, the maternal mortality rate is four times higher for Black women than for white women. Donald Trump has taken responsibility for the abortion bans that make delivery rooms even more dangerous for Black women – and one study also found that women living in states with bans are up to three times more likely to die in pregnancy, during childbirth, or soon after giving birth.

Meanwhile, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have pledged to fight to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade and have worked to reduce health disparities so that Black women can have healthy and safe pregnancies and births regardless of where they live.
